Patatas Meléndez joins the United Nations Global Compact

Patatas Meléndez has joined the United Nations Global Compact, the largest voluntary initiative for Corporate Social Responsibility and sustainable development in the world, aimed at generating shared value. A strategic adhesion that forms part of the company’s business model based on sustainable development.

It is a call to companies and organisations to align their strategies and operations with Ten Universal Principles on human rights, labour standards, environment and anti-corruption. Patatas Meléndez has just joined given its alignment with the purposes of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility area.

Present and future commitment

The mission of the UN Global Compact is to generate an international movement of sustainable business to create the world we want. Its mission also involves using its ability to bring business together with other actors working to promote sustainable development: governments, civil society and the United Nations. A great way to raise awareness in the private sector to contribute to the UN’s goals.

With this adhesion, Patatas Meléndez seeks to contribute to the transformation of the business sector into a more responsible one, as promoted by the Global Compact, and for the Ten Principles to be generalised as a basis for the management of entities in our country.

The idea is to enable positive outcomes for the economy, society and the environment based on the Global Compact’s Ten Principles, with strategic actions aimed at achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

A unique opportunity for the materialisation of Meléndez’s commitments in terms of social responsibility in its business model supported by sustainable development, which will be documented annually through a Progress Report or sustainability report.
