Patatas Meléndez

Patatas Meléndez is the leading company in the fresh potato sector in Valladolid. It closed the year 2020 with a turnover of 104 million euros, which represents an increase of 17% compared to the previous year, 2019. In recent years, the company has maintained a constant growth in sales. Specifically, in the last five years, it has doubled its turnover.

Patatas Meléndez, as a result of the work of its R+D+i department, plans various harvests throughout the country, selecting, from an agronomic point of view, the most suitable potato varieties for each plot of land and thus being able to offer Spanish consumers a quality fresh potato from May and throughout the year.

In the last year, ‘Patatas Meléndez’ has been immersed in a process of digitalisation of all its facilities and processes. It is a global transformation of all processes. The company’s objective is to build a ‘blockchain’ for potato production. This project, with a global investment of 32 million euros, involves the digitalisation of the crop, the use of green energy, the reduction of the use of plastics in containers and packaging, as well as an efficient use of water, reducing the water footprint.
